His future is uncertain. He sensationally became world champion with the national team in the summer, and after winning the cup with Bayern he will be attacking for the championship title in the next few weeks. It would be the first double of his career for Bonga.

Bonga is not yet showing his hand: “I’m leaving everything open. There’s still a lot of time,” says the ex-NBA player (including LA Lakers). Should he leave the BBL, his name could still remain represented in the league.
Brother Joshua (19) has been playing for surprise team Rasta Vechta since this season. However, so far he has only played for the reserves in the second division.

The Bonga brother: “The longer the season lasts for the BBL team, the better for me because there are more opportunities to play. If I look at it realistically, I would say: I would like to play in the BBL this season, and next season it should definitely work out.”
But Bonga still has to improve. He is currently averaging 5.6 points per game in the second division.

In the fall, Bonga tore two outer ligaments in his ankle – a difficult time.
Bonga: “I had to get back into it first and then I got a little better from game to game. But of course I would like to play in the BBL soon – I believe that I will have a chance and I won’t give up. But things are going very well for the first team at the moment and I’m not exactly over-performing either. I have to stay calm and patient.”
