Inside the Grand Rex: An Unforgettable Evening of NBA Playoffs with 2,500 Enthusiasts

After an extraordinary first edition, we had to do it again. An exceptional NBA Playoffs evening experienced together by 2,500 enthusiasts in a breathtaking location: the Grand Rex. Between “Air France”, time-outs, loss of bullets and Anthony Edwards, story from the inside, of a moment… outside of time.

To summarize the evening, it is difficult, in the heat of the moment, not to fall into listing beautiful moments. Not to recount a succession of kind exchanges and teasing delivered with a smile. So where to start ? Perhaps, out of laziness… from the beginning.

The first arrivals are in place from 1:20 p.m. (!) and quickly, behind them, a huge queue arises, invading the streets of the second arrondissement and impressing passers-by. Several of them stop and ask which film is about to premiere to bring together so many people. Sorry to movie fans, this Saturday evening, the main actors are not called Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, but Mary Patrux and Mickaël Piétrus.

The beIN Sports presenter is the first to take the stage during the pre-match show hosted by Alex and Bastien. According to her, the Denver Nuggets will go back-to-back and the Minnesota Timberwolves will be the disappointment of the Playoffs… One last prediction having already taken a turn for the worse, we’ll come back to it.

Mickaël Piétrus succeeded him shortly after and distinguished himself with his sense of spectacle. An entry inspired by LeBron James’ Chalk Toss; the Grand Rex is conquered. A few seconds later, “Air France” places a coin on the NBA champion Boston Celtics, the front row, dressed all in green, explodes. Jayson Tatum fans came out in force.

The first meeting of the evening allows them to observe their potential opponents in the Conference semi-finals, the winner of the series between the Cavaliers and the Magic. And the least we can say is that they won’t come away scared. The match is extremely weak, but the main thing is not there at the Grand Rex, the atmosphere remains and even the timeouts are subject to collective outbursts.

The exclamations followed one another to the rhythm of Paolo Banchero’s ball losses and Cleveland ended up winning, carried by a sharp Donovan Mitchell in the second half.

Barely had time for the TrashTalk team to eat, chocolate madeleines and other candies being much more popular than apples and bananas, when the main course was already served: Wolves-Suns.

A balanced and quality first half to keep the whole room involved and after the break, the explosion. A blast by the name of Anthony Edwards. The heat from behind makes the room boil, chants of “MVP, MVP” resound, but it is indeed an improbable fadeaway with the fault of… Rudy Gobert which will make the needle of the applause meter climb to the highest level .

At the same time, a rumor spread in the cinema, a major American media would have talked about our intimate Parisian evening on its channels. Soon, the extract shared on social networks no longer leaves room for doubt, ESPN introduced America to the existence of “GWAND WREX”.

The TrashTalk community influences the Grand Rex, the Grand Rex influences the world.

The end of the match is festive despite the lack of suspense. It is an opportunity to hear news from Isaiah Thomas and Bol Bol and to see Josh Okogie break the board twice at the Target Center.

Large victory for Wolves therefore, after an almost perfect performance. “Ant” and Rudy Gobert led the charge, and were superbly supported by Jaden McDaniels, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Naz Reid. The Sixth Man of the Year contender continues to impress, and one neighbor confidently says, “I need a Naz Reid towel in my life.” Specific, but how can you not understand it?

Two matches, two blowouts and despite that an atmosphere… of Playoffs. Because what made this edition of the Grand Rex an unforgettable evening: it was you. Your photos in front of the Larry O’Brien Trophy, your discussions while waiting in line to buy hot dogs on the second floor, your crazy jerseys (Big-up to OJ Mayo, Jimmer Fredette and Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks). You came from Nîmes, Bordeaux, Lille or Biarritz with one goal: put the zbeul.

HAPPY EVENING OF PLAYOFFS EVERYONE!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 @NBAFRANCE @ParionsSport @LeGrandRex @beinsports_FR pic.twitter.com/Tu64H3devm
