Over the past few weeks, FC Bayern’s number 7 has fought his way back from a muscle injury in his thigh, scored as a substitute against Mainz (8:1) and in Darmstadt (5:2) and then impressed again in the starting eleven. Gnabry was approaching his almost usual peak of form at the end of a season. Youngsters Tarek Buchmann, Raphael Guerreiro, Dayot Upamecano and Sacha Boey, who was only brought in in the winter, had to take a break again and again. The French full-back is currently recovering from a torn muscle and has started running training again this week, but will probably no longer play a role in the final phase of the season.
Similar to Gnabry, who could still come back, but “for now” cannot recommend himself for national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s European Championship squad after not being nominated in March.
