in Izon, the Bois bridge is prohibited for people over 3.5 tonnes, diversions put in place

The Bois Bridge, “built in the 19th century, is a seven-meter-long masonry vault crossing the Prades stream. “As part of the periodic inspection of structures, a specialized design office was carried out to carry out an in-depth structural investigation of this bridge. The result is that the structure is altered,” reports the Department.

Deviations

The Bois Bridge was the subject of a preventive visit in 2023 leading to the establishment of alternating traffic and the installation of measuring tools to monitor its evolution. The structure remains under reinforced surveillance and a study is underway to determine its future. The theoretical lifespan of such a structure is one hundred years, recalls the Department. It varies according to the manufacturing techniques adopted, the construction periods, traffic growth and climatic hazards. The bridge from Bonzac, to Saint-Denis-de-Pilehad to be closed due to the faster than expected deterioration of its structure.

A diversion has been put in place for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes “via the RD13 to Saint-Sulpice-et-Cameyrac then via the RN89 to Beychac-et-Caillau and via the RD 242e6 to Vayres then via the RD 242”, indicate the services of the Departmental Council. Public transport is diverted by avenue d’Uchamp and route d’Anglumeau. Alternating traffic is maintained on Avenue Charles-de-Gaulle (priority direction: Vayres towards Izon).
