The Bois Bridge, “built in the 19th century, is a seven-meter-long masonry vault crossing the Prades stream. “As part of the periodic inspection of structures, a specialized design office was carried out to carry out an in-depth structural investigation of this bridge. The result is that the structure is altered,” reports the Department.
Deviations
The Bois Bridge was the subject of a preventive visit in 2023 leading to the establishment of alternating traffic and the installation of measuring tools to monitor its evolution. The structure remains under reinforced surveillance and a study is underway to determine its future. The theoretical lifespan of such a structure is one hundred years, recalls the Department. It varies according to the manufacturing techniques adopted, the construction periods, traffic growth and climatic hazards.
