Imperial Scottie Scheffler, also his in the 2024 Masters. Åberg finishes excellent second

Scottie Scheffler wins the Augusta Masters for the second time in his career and is increasingly number 1 in the world. The twenty-seven year old from New Jersey has an extraordinary moment, three wins and a second place in his last four starts. The overall score is -11 (66 72 71 68, 277 shots). For the sixth time in history the winner goes many strokes under par: before the current king of the OWGR, in the past, Bernhard Langer (1993), Ian Woosnam (1991), Ben Crenshaw (1984), Gary Player (1978) and Bob Goalby (1968). All for the Green Jacket.

A path, that of Scheffler, which is initially opposed by three men: Morikawa, Homa and Åberg. Up until the 8th the four are more or less all on the same level of struggle, then the first to make a serious mistake in the decisive moment is the first of the aforementioned, who with two double bogeys at the 9th and 11th says goodbye to any dream of glory.

Homa’s problem, however, is the double bogey on the 12th, while as far as Åberg is concerned everything apparently ends when the Swede finds the water on the 11th (double bogey for him too). In truth, he also managed to recover with birdies on the 13th and 14th, but in both situations Scheffler’s reaction was not long in coming. The American simply doesn’t make any mistakes anymore, and even when he does he recovers on his own.

Augusta Masters 2024, Scheffler takes the solitary top spot after an exciting third lap. Short ranking for a dream Sunday

Result: well-deserved victory, while he himself finishes in second place, Ludvig Åberg, with a score of -7. The Swede, in his first Masters as a pro, achieves a truly exceptional result, which says a lot about how great his talent is. And, what’s more, he becomes number 7 of the OWGR). TO Collin Morikawa (-4) reaches third place, also thanks to the excellent birdies at the 13th and 15th, but runs into a bogey at the 18th: this means that they end up alongside him Max Homa and the Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, silently among the best of the day with -3.

Also inside the top 10 Cameron Smith: for the Australian sixth place at -2 in the company of the USA Bryson DeChambeauwhile he is eighth Xander Schauffele (which thus rises to number 3 in the world for the first time) at -1. Last to manage to remain at least even with par, and corresponding to the group of ninths, Will Zalatoris, Cameron Young its English Tyrrell Hatton.

At the bottom of the ranking, a sort of negative record for Tiger Woods, finishing in last place among everyone who made the cut. For him, a score of +16, with +5 today, and, also by virtue of the many problems that have occurred in recent years, a distance that seems increasingly greater from the days that gave him glory.
