Bremer replaced Matthijs de Ligt at Juventus

Torino climbed to 10th place in Serie A in the 2021/22 season and Bremer was voted the league’s best defender. At this point, the Turin club already knew that their star was destined for greater things and, as a precautionary measure, extended his contract until 2024.

But then came the big city rival: Juventus offered 46.90 million euros for the Brazilian – and FC Turin agreed to the move. Bremer was the replacement for Matthijs de Ligt, who left for FC Bayern for 67 million euros.

Allegri used Bremer in the first game of the new season against Sassuolo as Leonardo Bonucci’s central defense partner and he hardly made a mistake in the 3-0 win.

“To be honest, I’m amazed at how well Bremer has settled in,” said Allegri after the final whistle. The collaboration with Bonucci developed splendidly and Bremer was eventually called up to the Brazilian national team, where he played his first international match under then coach Tite in a friendly against Ghana.

Bremer then gained valuable experience at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and played in two games when the Seleção were eliminated in the quarter-finals. The Juve star was not a regular player.

However, the second half of the season wasn’t quite as positive. In January 2023, Juventus Turin were deducted ten points for financial irregularities and incorrect accounting. It was only enough to finish seventh in Serie A – that’s why Juve won’t play in the European Cup in 2023/24.

Nevertheless, from a personal perspective, Bremer’s first year with the Old Lady couldn’t have gone better. He contributed five goals, including one in a 4-2 home win against his former club Torino. “I think he’s the best defender I’ve ever coached and I’ve worked with some good defenders like Cristian Romero,” Torino coach Juric said at the post-match press conference. “Bremer is spectacular. He always wants to improve and has worked a lot on his technique. He is outstanding defensively and can still improve.”

Bremer has since become a key player for Juve, which is why his contract was recently extended until 2028. As usual, the Bianconeri are a very strong team defensively under Allegri.
