Houston Rockets Extend Rafael Stone’s Contract After Successful Season

After achieving the first season with 50% wins since the departure of James Harden, the Houston Rockets have signed a multi-year contract with its president of operations Rafael Stone. The manager arrived precisely after the departure of Daryl Morey and just before La Barba requested the transfer. In three years, Stone has established the foundations of a project that has Ime Udoka as its main sponsor in the immediate future.

Along with him, Eli Witus also renews his position as Deputy General Manager. Stone’s contract expired this year. At the moment, it is unknown how many seasons he has renewed his commitment to the Texans.

Houston has gone from 22 to 41 wins from last season to this one. Largely due to Udoka’s signings as coach, Fred VanVleet (3 years, $128 million) and Dillon Brooks (4 years, $86 million). In addition to the choices of Amen Thompson and Cam Withmore with numbers 4 and 20 from the last Draft respectively.

Stone thus mitigates the mistake of entrusting the project to Stephen Silas in 2020, who was allowed to finish his contract in 2023.
