Former Twin Miguel Sanó ‘very excited’ to reunite with old teammates after unlikely return to baseball
Buxton stated that they stayed united throughout their journey together from the minor leagues to the majors. He considers Sanó to still be like a brother to him.
The manager of the Twins, Rocco Baldelli, stated: “He was an excellent teammate and always gave his all on the field. These are the aspects that stick out most in my memory when I think of Miggy, rather than his on-field performance. He was a valuable presence to have on our team.”
On Saturday, Sanó had a .352 percentage for getting on base, with three doubles, one homer, and five runs batted in over 21 games. The Angels are optimistic that they can analyze his swing and decrease his number of strikeouts. Despite this, his average exit speed is the highest in the league.

According to Angels general manager Perry Minasian, Sanó often arrived at 7 a.m. to work with infield coach Ryan Goins on improving his defensive abilities. With Anthony Rendon suffering a partial hamstring tear last week, the Angels have chosen Sanó to be their primary third baseman.
Minasian expressed that he noticed the motivation and determination in him to return to his previous level or even surpass it.

It appeared as though Sanó’s baseball career may have come to an end. However, he managed to shed over 55 pounds, performed strongly in the Dominican Winter League, secured a minor league deal with the Angels, and made a positive impression to become a starting third baseman.
Sanó, who will be celebrating his 31st birthday on May 11, expressed his enthusiasm for this weekend as “extremely excited.” After being apart for almost two years, he was reunited with his friends. He expressed his appreciation towards the Twins, stating that they were the organization that initially gave him a chance.
Sanó, an All-Star in 2017 and a vital member of the 2019 Bomba Squad, currently holds 12th place in the team’s record for most home runs (162). Reflecting on his fondest moments with the Twins, he couldn’t help but smile.
“Despite losing 55 pounds, he still appears to have the physique of an NFL defensive end,” commented Torii Hunter, a former player for the Twins and current employee of the Angels.
I noticed how the Angels were attracted to Sanó during his time playing in the Dominican Winter League. It’s a rare skill to be able to hit the ball with such power, and his significant weight loss was especially noticeable.
“According to a team interpreter, Sanó stated that the worst fear for any athlete is getting injured. Unfortunately, this occurred to me, but I am grateful to be here and am working hard to recover and maintain my health while being a part of this team. My sincerest gratitude to all.”
Sanó stayed out of the limelight last summer and stayed in the Dominican Republic. However, he kept in contact with his former teammate Buxton and other teammates. He referred to them as a family and shared that he was focused on losing weight in order to make his return to the major leagues.
