Historic Win: Indonesian U-23 National Team Advances to Semifinals of 2024 U-23 Asian Cup

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian U-23 National Team (Timnas) managed to advance to the semifinals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup after winning over South Korea 11-10 on penalties. This also became recorded history when the Indonesian U-23 national football team succeeded in defeating South Korea U-23 in the quarter-finals of the U-23 Asian Cup at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, Qatar, Friday (26/4/2024).

In facing the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar, the Indonesian football team has prepared its best squad to compete. The interesting thing is that there are several naturalized players who are also included in the player list.

For the record, the 2023 Asian Cup will be held from January 12 to February 10 2024. The biggest football tournament in Asia is attended by national football teams from 24 countries.

This tournament is organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Matches are being held at eight stadiums, including the six arenas used for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 2023 Asian Cup group phase will take place from January 12 to January 25. After that, the last 16 of the Asian Cup will be held January 28-31. The two days of quarter-final matches will take place on February 2 and 3. Meanwhile, the semifinal matches will be held on February 6-7.

The Indonesian national team now has 26 names of new players who will compete and seven of them are naturalized players.

The seven naturalized players are Sandy Walsh, Jordi Amat, Shayne Pattynama, Marc Klok, Ivar Jenner, Justin Hubner, and Rafael Struick.

The market value of these seven naturalized players varies widely, from IDR 1 billion to more than IDR 20 billion.

Referring to Transfermarkt, Sandy Walsh is the most expensive naturalized player for the Indonesian national team in the 2023 Asian Cup with a market value of IDR 26.07 billion, while Rafael Struick is a naturalized player with the lowest market value, namely IDR 1.3 billion.
