“He should not be a referee”: Daniil Medvedev breaks down again during the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo

Clearly, it won’t be done again. As often in his career, Daniil Medvedev had something to say about the refereeing this Thursday at the Matsers 1000 in Monte-Carlo. The Russian, opposed to his compatriot Karen Khachanov, was furious after an error in judgment by the referee, at 5-5 in the second set.

During a rally ultimately won by his opponent, it seemed that a ball was foul, and that the point should therefore have gone to Daniil Medvedev. This error allowed Karen Khachanov to offer herself a break point, converted a few moments later.

At the change of ends, Daniil Medvedev drew: “This ball is out. Who will take responsibility? It’s not up to me to referee matches. It’s him, with his glasses (pointing at the referee). He doesn’t need glasses because he can’t see anything, he shouldn’t be a referee. It’s in front of his eyes, the ball is going slowly. There are 15-30 at 5-5, he’s a bad referee, he should be sidelined. »

Daniil Medvedev finally lost the match in two sets (6-3, 7-5) and therefore stopped in the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo, the first of the season on clay. This Wednesday, the Russian eliminated Gaël Monfils quickly (6-2, 6-4).
