Just someone like Marc Márquez Alenta31 years old, eight-time world champion, survivor of all types of falls, injuries and operations, the boy who raised and broke all the preoccupation records of the premier category in his debut in 2013the boy whom everyone compared to the great American drivers like Randy Mamola, Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Kevin Schwantz or the Australian Mick Doohanthe boy who has returned to the top of the MotoGP World Championship by the hand of Ducati after 11 years on the back of a Hondawill set foot again this Thursday on one of his favorite circuits, that of Las Americas, in Austin, Texas, United States.
And it does so, precisely, the week after the North American company Liberty Media have bought MotoGP. The eldest of the Márquez family, who won in Austin, uninterruptedly, from 2013 to 2018 and even triumphed after his injury, in 2021, appears, of course, with the poster of favorite or one of the five main candidates to final victory. He denies it, but he cannot resist admitting that “everyone knows that I like Austin, I’m good at it, I was good at it from the first day I set foot in it, in 2013, the year of my debut in MotoGP, “But I still lack a little knowledge and understanding with my new ‘Desmosedici’ to think that I can achieve my first victory with Ducati in my third weekend.”
Fun campaign
He may not want to verbalize that expectation, similar, well, identical, to the one generated after his signing for the team of the disappeared Italian champion. Instead of the mythical and traditional “Houston, Houston, we have a problem.”the Gresini team has launched a fun slogan as “Texas, you have a problem.” and, on the image of Márquez, a ‘The Martian’, the Martian. And Marc has been nicknamed in many ways. One of them, yes, was ‘the Martian’ because his showy, brave and dangerous piloting made him come from another planet. He was a Martian, yes. In Italy, they prefer to call him ‘the Cannibal’.
