Gravina-Matera: curiosity for an almost unprecedented challenge

The Serie D championship has now almost come to an end, there are a handful of days left until the end of the regular season and the thirtieth of group H pits Gravina against Matera. The match is staged at the stadium Stefano Vicino of Gravina in Puglia, where there was a good turnout of the public, quantifiable in a thousand spectators, favored both by the mild climate and by the curiosity for the almost unprecedented challenge with the team from the Città dei Sassi.

The local fans, positioned at the end of the grandstand, light up some smoke bombs in the colors of their club as the teams enter; not very numerous, they support their team intermittently, with chants and clapping, during the ninety minutes. During the match, further smoke bombs are lit while in the last moment of the match they are the authors of a scarf.

The fans, coming from Matera, who populate the away sector are in large numbers, they settle behind the banner “Only for the shirt” and immediately notable is the view offered by the boys, compact and bare-chested. Before the starting whistle they light some blue smoke bombs and the chants performed in the first minutes of the match are really loud and intense; the clapping, accompanied by the drum, was beautiful and successful, which visually would have been enhanced even better if the structure of the sector had been larger or a little more elevated; in addition to the chants for the support of the eleven on the pitch, there is no shortage of dry chants for the city and those against the rossoblù cousins; the chromatic effect of the sector is guaranteed not only by the banner placed on the fence, but also by various flags waved continuously. The support is quite continuous even in the second half, even when their team is one goal down, in fact the occupied segment is quite lively despite the disadvantage on the pitch.

The match ends with a 1-0 victory for the hosts, who gain three precious points for the race to safety, while the guests go out defeated, suffering their third consecutive defeat.
