Garuda Muda Your struggle is not over yet!

Jakarta

The fierce match between the Indonesian U-23 national team and Uzbekistan U-23 has ended. Indonesia failed to advance to the final of the U-23 Asian Cup. Garuda Muda had to admit Uzbekistan’s 0-2 lead in the semifinals.

The match between Indonesia vs Uzbekistan was tight from the start. Playing at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, Qatar, Monday (29/4/2024), Indonesia played almost the same starter as when they beat South Korea in the quarter-finals. Only minus Rafael Struick and Komang Teguh who were replaced by Ramadhan Sananta and Muhammad Fajar.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan changed a lot of players. As a result, Indonesia had a little difficulty dealing with the opposing starter who was a little unexpected.

The competition was tight until the 20th minute. Until finally in the 27th minute, Witan Sulaeman was brought down by Abduvohid Ne’matov near the penalty box. The referee then checked VAR, and did not consider the violation in the penalty box. Indonesia failed to get a penalty.

Then, Uzbekistan threatened again. Abdurauf Bo’riyev’s shot then almost became a goal if it didn’t hit Ernando Ari Sutaryadi’s crossbar in the 30th minute.

Young Garuda continued to be attacked by the White Wolves until the end of the first half. Uzbekistan tried several times to attack. However, his efforts are still not on target. Until the first half ended, the score was still 0-0.

In the second half, Indonesia almost took the lead over Uzbekistan. Muhammad Ferrari scored a goal in the 61st minute, but it was disallowed by VAR.

Starting from crossing from the right side, the ball reached Ramadhan Sananta and a duel occurred with the Uzbekistan goalkeeper. Sananta then passed the ball to Ferrari next to him and kicked it into a goal.

The referee then checked the VAR because it indicated offside. And finally Sananta was caught on camera being slightly offside when welcoming the crossing ball, so the goal was canceled.

Seven minutes later, Indonesia conceded the goal. Husain Norchaev tore Ernando Ari’s goal after continuing Muhammadqodir Hamraliev’s pass from the left side. Garuda Muda trailed 0-1.

After falling behind, Indonesia almost conceded several times. The situation became increasingly difficult after Garuda Muda had to play with 10 people in the 84th minute.

Rizky Ridho received a red card after fouling Jasurbek Jaloliddinov. The Indonesian captain accidentally kicked an Uzbek player in the groin after throwing the ball. His yellow card penalty was then increased to red after being checked by VAR.

Not long after playing with 10 people, Garuda Muda conceded again. This time by Pratama Arhan’s suicide. The score was 0-2, Garuda Muda was left behind.

This result allowed Uzbekistan to qualify for the final and seal its ticket to the 2024 Olympics. Even though it failed to qualify for the final, the struggle is not over. Indonesia will still be competing for third place in order to qualify for Paris.
