Alexis, can we go back to your beginnings in swimming?

When I was 12, I was in an accident. A car hit me and I had to have my leg amputated. During my rehabilitation at the Kerpape center, I discovered swimming.

I quickly got hooked because it’s a sport where I feel free to move, and in which I don’t feel my handicap.

I registered with the Vannes Swimmers’ Circle in 2019 before arriving at the Ploërmel Swimmers’ Union (Morbihan).

Before my amputation, I practiced cycling and judo competitively.

Can you tell us about your training club, the Union des Nageurs Ploërmelais?

I stayed at the Union des Nageurs Ploërmelais for two wonderful years. It’s my training club, it’s where I started competing.

I experienced lots of great things there during training, courses and competitions… A club that is really very cool with a superb atmosphere! Currently I go back there for a few more weekends.

You have just joined the Cercle Paul Bert de Rennes, a swimming club in Rennes. Can you tell us about it?

I have been licensed there since the start of the school year in September 2023. I am in my first year of higher education in Rennes, I have a degree in Economic and Social Administration.

It’s a superb place with two magnificent pools where I train eight times a week. I also have two or three weight training sessions.

What are the most memorable moments of your young swimming career so far?

I would say the three international competitions that I did. I made two stages of the World Series, the World Cup circuit, in 2023 and I participated in the European Junior Championships in 2022.

I was able to go to Italy and Finland. These are great experiences to live. We meet lots of people there, all passionate about swimming and competitions.

Wearing the French uniform is a source of pride. It’s great to represent France in competitions.

Over these two World Series stages, I obtained three individual bronze medals! I finished third twice in the 400 meter freestyle and once third in the 100 meter backstroke.

What are your future plans and goals?

In May, I will participate in the French Championships. My goal will be to qualify for the World Cup which will take place in June. My goal for this World Cup will be to perform as well as possible to hope to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games.
