This Tuesday, April 24, the French Federation (FFBaD) asked “the exceptional qualification of Lucas Corvée and Ronan Labar for the Paris 2024 Games in the men’s doubles table, in addition to that of the first qualified pair, in the name of sporting fairness and the values of Olympism”.

The FFBaD criticizes “the amateurism of the management of this ranking and the scandalous approach of the BWF to modify an allocation of points one year later”. “A letter of complaint and support for their appeal was sent today to the BWF, after consultation with all stakeholders and in agreement with the CNOSF, it is specified. Likewise, the BWF board of directors will receive a letter of indignation and awareness of the impact of such operation. »
A petition was also launchedsigned by the president of the FFBaD, Yohan Penel. “After twelve months of intense, suspenseful and exhausting racing for the athletes, it is not possible to be satisfied with the response of the BWF, which does not provide answers to the legitimate questions of the players, said the latter. Since the publication of the ranking, we have studied all possible appeals with the legal teams of the federation and the CNOSF, and have today filed an official appeal with the BWF. »
“We are obviously thinking of Lucas and Ronan who, in the space of a week, saw their dream of competing in the Games disappear in a dark story of miscalculation, added Yohan Penel. We are also thinking of Christo and Toma Junior. Badminton, which has everything to gain with these Olympic and Paralympic Games at home, must not suffer from incompetence on the part of the BWF. We will go to any lengths to obtain redress. »
