For the first time, French people have won a European title in badminton. In the mixed doubles pair winning the European Championship this Saturday April 13 in Saarbrücken, Germany, there was obviously a Camblysian, Delphine Delrueassociated with Thom Gicquel.
Seeded number two, the French pair defeated the Danish pair Christiansen-Boje in the final (21-16, 21-15).
Next step, the Olympics!
Born in Sarcelles, in the neighboring department of Val-d’Oise, Delphine Delrue joined the Chambly club in July 2022, where her brother Fabien was already playing. At 25, she is ranked world number 13 in mixed doubles.
Next step for her and her doubles partner Thom Gicquel, the Olympic Games which will be held at the Adidas Arena, Porte de la Chapelle in Paris, from July 27 to August 5. His exploits will be broadcast at the fan zone set up in Nelson-Mandela Park in Chambly.
