French Basketball Star Alex Sarr Declares for 2024 NBA Draft and Expected to be a Top 3 Pick

Alex Sarr announced to ESPN his entry into the 2024 NBA Draft. “I had a great year in the NBL,” he said. “I’ve grown a lot as a player and as a person. I’m ready for the next step now, it was right to declare myself eligible for the draft. I’m grateful for the year spent in the NBL.” With the Perth Wildcats shirt in the Australian championship, the French big man led his team to the playoff semi-finals averaging 9.4 points per game, 4.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks in 17 minutes per game.

He will be one of the Top 3 picks in the 2024 Draft
In September, in a two-game series against the G League Ignite Team in Las Vegas, Sarr made it clear to NBA scouts that he was the No. 1 prospect in the draft, with 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6 blocks per game , including a barrage of three-pointers and killer dunks. To date he is second in ESPN’s Mock NBA Draft, behind only his compatriot Zaccharie Risacher.

“Zaccharie and I were teammates for three summers in a row,” Sarr said. “It was a great experience. We had fun. I don’t think at the time either of us thought we would meet again at the NBA draft. This shows the talent level of the young French players. There is so much potential over there. From From here on it will only increase. The young French have some guys to admire in the NBA.”

Sarr’s father, Massar, emigrated from Senegal to France at 18 and played professional basketball in the lower divisions, while his older brother Olivier is currently under contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
