French Badminton Duo Lambert and Tran Qualify for Final at 2024 European Championships

Quarter-finalists in Madrid in 2022 for their first joint Euro, Mulhouseian Margot Lambert and Parisian Anne Tran, 19th in the world and seeded No. 2, qualified this Saturday afternoon for their first final in a major international competition, in this case the 2024 European Championships in Saarbrücken.

Already assured of a bronze medal that they had already collected in 2023 at the European Games in Tarnow (Poland), the three reigning French champions dismissed this Saturday afternoon in the semi-final the Dutch Debora Jille and Cheryl Seinen , 34th and seeded n°6 (21-15, 21-12), to sign their third victory against the Batavians in as many confrontations.

As in their two previous rounds, the French internationals did not detail and still have not dropped a single set. This Sunday they will challenge the Bulgarians Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva, seeded 3 and 22nd overall, who, like them, passed their three rounds in two rounds, notably the half against the Turks Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlican Inci, 71st and n°8 (21-11, 21-15).

Gicquel and Delrue want to become the first French European champions

The Stoeva sisters are simply triple continental title holders (2018, 2021 and 2022) and also won the European Games last year, taking out the two tricolors in the semi-finals (17-21, 21-14, 21- 12). They also lead 3-1 in direct confrontations.

This means that Margot Lambert and Anne Tran, who have announced that they are aiming for the title and have their ticket in their pocket for their first Olympic Games in Paris this summer, would achieve a monumental feat by adorning themselves with gold.

For Red Star Mulhouse, this 30th edition of the Euro will remain in the annals whatever happens, since the other RSM player, Thom Gicquel, and the Camblysienne Delphine Delrue, 13th and seeded n°2 in mixed , will try this Saturday around 9 p.m. to become the first European champions in the history of French badminton. After their narrowly lost final in 2022 in the Spanish capital, the reigning European vice-champions face the Danes Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje, 10th and seeded 1.
