Franck Eyeni Sets New African Outdoor Archery Record with 660 Points

Franck Eyeni is the new African outdoor archery record holder. The young archer licensed at the Arc club in Nîmes achieved 660 points, beating by one point the old record held by South African Calvin Hartley.

660! This is the number of points achieved last weekend in Riom, on the first day of the French team championship, by Franck Eyeni. This is the new African record that the continental federation has just officially approved. This is one point more than that established by the South African Calvin Hartley.

Franck Eyeni – full name Mongomin N’Diamoi Franck Olivier Eyeni – joined the Arc club of Nîmes in September 2022. Aged 22, this Ivorian born in Aboisso has been practicing the discipline since the age of 15. He discovered it when he was in college in Abidjan. A member of the Ivory Coast team, he benefited from an Olympic preparation scholarship allowing him to travel to France to improve his skills.

He can win his place in the Olympic Games

Last year, for his first participation in the French team championship with Nîmes, he obtained the title with Jean-Charles Valladont, Pierre Plihon and Baptiste Addis. And last weekend, he took part in the seven successes in as many matches obtained by the Nîmes during the opening of the 2024 championship.

Thanks to his performance, Franck Eyeni also achieved the Olympic minimums. But he will have to earn a quota at the next Olympic qualifying tournament in Turkey if he wants to participate in the Paris Games.
