Tobias Foss won the first stage of the Tour of the Alps from Neumarkt to Kurtinig an der Weinstraße (ITA). Almost at the same time as the Norwegian, his Ineos captain Geraint Thomas (6th) and other favorites such as Antonio Tiberi (7th) and Wout Poels (11th) also crossed the finish line on Monday.

The best representative of the Austrian national team was Sebastian Schönberger, 8:38 minutes behind in 54th place, directly ahead of Patrick Gamper, who started for the Bora team.

The second stage of the five-day tour takes the riders on Tuesday (1.30 p.m., live on ORF Sport +) from Salurn 190.7 km to the Tyrolean community of Stans.
