Football: former PSG striker Hugo Ekitike (finally) scores his first goal with Frankfurt

The German press kindly nicknamed him “Mister zero goals”. Hugo Ekitike failed to live up to his nickname this Friday by scoring his first achievement in the colors of Frankfurt. Loaned by PSG with an option to buy since February 1, the 21-year-old striker allowed his team to take the lead yesterday against Augsburg, in a capital victory for 6th European place in the Bundesliga (3-1).

The one who still officially belongs to the Parisian club until June 2027 recalled his heyday at the Stade de Reims with a nice slalom in the area before deceiving the opposing goalkeeper with a cross shot into the small left net. Before this goal, the French striker had only delivered a small assist against VfL Wolfsburg (2-2) on February 25.

“He didn’t play for six months at PSG. We are taking our time, there is no need to sound the alarm. We are betting fully on him in the future,” had already explained Markus Krösche, the general manager of the winner of the 2022 Europa League. Eintracht should even exercise the purchase option of 16.5 million euros excluding bonus which depended on a certain number of matches played (50% matches played, 6 starts) that the attacker will reach, according to The Team.

Holder and decisive against Augsburg, Ekitike has alternated for several matches between a place in the starting eleven and entries at the end of the match. Thanks to this goal, he could apply to start in the clash against Bayern Munich next weekend.
