Football: end of season for Lyonnaises Eugénie Le Sommer and Sara Däbritz, absent against PSG

Having undergone surgery on her right knee, OL striker Eugénie Le Sommer will not play again this season, Lyon coach Sonia Bompastor announced on Friday, specifying that there was still hope for the Frenchwoman to participate in the Olympic Games.

Aged 34, Le Sommer injured her right knee during the Sweden-France match (0-1) on April 9. His absence should last “several weeks”, according to the Rhone club which faces Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday at Groupama Stadium in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League. The striker was injured in a collision with Jonna Andersson in the 61st minute of the match against Sweden counting for Euro 2025 qualifying.

For her part, striker Delphine Cascarino suffers from pelvic pain and still remains uncertain for the match against PSG, just like the Norwegian Ada Hegerberg, who extended this week until 2027. These two players still have to take a test during training on Friday at the end of the day.

Furthermore, the season is over for German midfielder Sara Däbritz, who underwent ankle surgery. The German international, who still has hope of participating in the Olympics, was injured during training with OL. Hungarian midfielder Dszenifer Maroszan, victim of muscle discomfort, is also out to face PSG.
