Fernando Alonso stays at Aston Martin

The Spanish Fernando Alonsodouble Formula One world champion, has reached an agreement to renew his contract with the English team Aston Martinwith which it faces its second season, as announced this Thursday by the Silverstone (England) team.

Alonso, 42, has signed a multi-year contract – without specifying duration – that will unite it, at least, until 2026 with the Silverstone team, as Aston Martin has just announced. The Asturian double world champion, with 32 victories and 106 podiums in the premier class, has just finished sixth in the Japanese Grand Prix and is in eighth place in the World Championship.

“Securing a long-term partnership with Fernando is fantastic news. We have built a strong working relationship over the past 18 months and we share the same determination to see this project succeed,” explains the Luxembourger Mike KrackAston Martin team leader, in the statement made public this Tuesday in the team’s press chat.

“We have been maintaining constant dialogues over the past months and Fernando has been faithful to his word: When he decided if he wanted to continue driving, he would talk to us first. Fernando has shown that he believes in us; and we believe in it,” says Krack.

“Fernando He is hungry for success, he is driving better than ever and is completely dedicated to turning Aston Martin Aramco into a competitive force. This multi-year agreement with Fernando takes us until 2026, when our motorsports partnership with Honda begins,” adds the Luxembourger. “We are already looking forward to creating even more incredible memories and continuing to achieve success together,” comments Mika Krack.
