Twente women are not yet champions after a draw against Utrecht

FC Twente has not managed to win the title in the premier league for women today. A visit to FC Utrecht drew 2-2, where a win was needed.

The next chance is on Thursday, when the match between Ajax and AZ resumes. That match was stopped yesterday at 0-0 after a serious collision by AZ goalkeeper Femke Liefting. If Ajax loses points there, Twente will be champions.

If Ajax wins, Twente can finish it itself on Wednesday, May 1, when they visit Fortuna Sittard.

In the first half there was a major setback for Twente player Liz Rijsbergen. She had to leave injured after just eleven minutes.

Twente in the lead

It was the same in Utrecht for a long time. The home team had a great chance through Eshly Bakker, but Twente was more often dangerous. The liberating opening goal was scored by Marisa Olislagers in the 25th minute. Her shot from distance flew beautifully into the left intersection, putting Twente in the lead.

Just before half time, Lotje de Keijzer scored on behalf of Utrecht, meaning the teams went into half time with an equal score.

Hunting for goals

After the break it remained a somewhat tough match. Twente had more chances, but could not really make a fist. There were corners and shots here and there, but it wasn’t really dangerous.

Utrecht achieved that in the 77th minute. Amber Visscher scored a beautiful goal to give Utrecht the lead.

In the final phase, Caitlijn Dijkstra equalized on behalf of Twente. A final offensive followed, but Twente did not get further than 2-2.
