Favorites for Badminton Horse Trials after Brookfield Inocent’s Withdrawal

Piggy March bred the 15-year-old Irish Brookfield Inocent (by Inocent) withdrawn from the Badminton Horse Trials that will take place from May 8 to 12. This means that one of the big favorites has disappeared from the start list.

Brookfield Inocent was the number 2 in Pau in 2020 and won European team gold and individual silver in 2021. Data analysis company EquiRatings had him as favorite to win Badminton, with a 20% chance of victory.

Izilot DHI

Due to the withdrawal of Brookfield Inocent, Ros Canter and her very talented, bred by Bert Wichers from Dedemsvaart, are Izilot DHI (Zavall x Marlon) in the spotlight as favorites for victory. The two-time Grantham Cup winners Emily King and the French-bred Valmy Biats (by Orlando) are the second favorites behind Ros and Izilot DHI.

Ballaghmor Class en Vitali

Oliver Townend and his experienced five-star horse Ballaghmor Class (by Courage II) take joint third place on the EquiRatings prediction list, next to Tim Price and the 14-year-old Holsteiner Vitali (v. Contender).
