Expanding Horizons: Eurobody Adds Powerlifting to its Roster

New disciplines are growing at Eurobody. The Porto Viro gym known nationally and internationally for its feats (and what feats!) in judo and arm wrestling, led by maestro Fabrizio Gazzignato and the totem Ermanno Marangon, is expanding to other sports proposals. Maybe less known, but which are gradually finding their scope and interest.

This is for example Powerlifting; competitive discipline in which the athlete is involved in lifting the maximum weight possible, in three exercises: the squat, the bench press and the deadlift. And so the competition organized by the Fipl circuit (Italian Powerlifting Federation) in San Zenone al Lambro (Milan) was the opportunity for Eurobody to come out of its shell, after some previous participation; with the instructor Paolo Pilotto who brought Daniele Pavanello and Andrea Granfo with him on the Lombard trip.

And with gratifying results anyway, given that the first in the Junior -83 kg category placed 39th out of 53 athletes, while the second in the Junior -66 kg came 13th out of 19 participants. “And taking into account that he also had a fever, it’s a very respectable placement – specifies Pilotto -, so much so that the goal was to beat the national record of 220 kg in the squat specialty, but unfortunately he didn’t succeed due to this inconvenience. ”. A stage, the Milanese one, which for both Pavanello and Granfo was worth, among other things, the debut in all respects in a national level race; therefore with a high technical content, against opponents already experienced in such events.

With Paolo Pilotto again entering more into the folds of this sporting discipline: “The kilos that athletes lift in competition are not the same as those in a gym; for the simple reason that the equipment is different, although I must say that the Eurobody ones are very close, precisely to limit the difference as much as possible. Therefore, the very sensation that an athlete experiences between the race and training can also change.” The next race on the schedule will then be in San Zenone al Lambro (at the end of June); but this time an Open, therefore open to multiple weight categories.
