Euro 2024: pessimism for Kingsley Coman, affected in the adductor with Bayern Munich

Euro 2024 is moving away for Kingsley Coman. Already injured in a knee at the end of January, which prevented him from participating in the Blues rally in March, the Bayern Munich winger injured his adductor this Saturday against Cologne during the 29th Bundesliga day. Two months before the start of the European Championship, this glitch is a real blow for the Frenchman. According to our information, the player’s entourage is also quite pessimistic about his presence in Germany (June 14-July 14).

After the meeting, his Bavarian club made no secret, his absence can be counted in weeks. “Coman will be absent from FC Bayern for several weeks,” we read in a press release. The offensive player suffered a muscle injury to his right adductor during the Bundesliga home match against 1. FC Köln on Saturday. This is the result of an examination carried out by the FC Bayern medical department. »

The game phase was, however, harmless. On a cross from Joshua Kimmich, the French international (55 caps) stopped short, placing his hand on his thigh, before going to the ground in the area. Visibly in pain, Kingsley Coman took several minutes to get up, and finally got out on one leg, helped by the trainers. He was replaced by the young Jamal Musiala.

This injury could benefit Moussa Diaby, who replaced him during the Blues rally in March. The Aston Villa striker, however, played very little, playing only around ten minutes against Chile. He is very appreciated by Didier Deschamps, who could decide to trust him.

“Moussa Diaby has already come with us, even if he has reduced playing time. He has around ten selections, and he has already shown some great things. It seemed more logical to me to recall Moussa,” the coach explained to justify his choice. Christopher Nkunku could have represented an alternative, but he is currently at a standstill after a thigh injury contracted at the end of February with Chelsea and is having a dark season in London. As for the Parisian Bradley Barcola, Diaby was preferred during the March gathering and he seems more likely to compete in the Olympics.

Didier Deschamps will announce his list on Thursday May 16, and will have to communicate his final list to UEFA on June 7.
