Three cracks from the Oytener club Enjoy Judo are starting at the German Over-30 Championships at the Nürburgring this weekend. Manfred Schwarzer, Andreas Wöhl and trainer Andreas Pajer have prepared intensively over the past few weeks.

Oyten – At 69 years old, Andreas Wöhl from Rotenburg is the oldest in the trio, but at the same time he is absolutely top class – according to Pajer, hardly anyone can beat him. Wöhl starts in the weight class up to 81 kg in the M9 age group. Manfred Schwarzer (54) from Sottrum, where he is also a trainer, fights in the M5 up to 90 kg. His goal is to get back into the top three.

The goal is to win the podium

Coach Andreas Pajer starts in the M7 age group up to 66 kg. Even as a five-time German champion, it is always a challenge for him. The three to five duels against the best fighters took a lot of preparation. But as they get older, the trio wants to know it again. “Because that’s what’s really special about training. The journey is the goal – and when a medal comes out of it, there is great joy,” said Pajer. Almost 500 participants registered for the title fights.
