Empowering Nurses: Self-Defense Lessons Offered by Monza Police

There are 120 nurses who will participate in the self-defense course of the Monza and Brianza Police Headquarters. After the initiative for doctors, therefore, the police turned to nurses registered with the Order of Nursing Professions of Milan-Lodi-Monza and Brianza. The objective is to train them in the event of potentially dangerous situations due to verbal or physical aggressiongrowing according to the latest official data released.

On April 17th the course started with the first 20welcomed by the commissioner Salvatore Barilaro.

Nurses will participate to the lessons of the State Police Personal Defense Instructorassistant chief coordinator Danilo Bignoneformer member of the Fiamme Oro of the State Police, absolute Italian wrestling champion, black belt in judo, wrestling coach and mixed martial arts instructor, serving at the Police Headquarters of Monza and Brianza, under the supervision of the Chief Commissioner Alessandro Barone and the help of the Assistant Chief Coordinator Pietro Cavallo.

Every Wednesday afternoonnurses will be able to take part in training sessionsduring which they will learn simple but effective self-defense techniques and above all they will be able to try their hand at using them with instructors and colleagues, thus learning to counteract physical aggression, guaranteeing greater self-protection and personal safety.

During the lessons, situations will be discussed in which the aggression could start from strangulation, with a grip on the gown, with a blocking of the hands, but also by addressing fundamental contrast techniques in case of body-to-body contact in a scenario on the ground”, explains a note.

A very topical question: in March the Nursind union also organized a course aimed at nurses, involving 100 of them in a course with the instructors of the Brianza Fighting club.
