Well in advance, but the opponent is tough
A fundamental match for the rest of the season. On Saturday afternoon at Pala 4T the Despar 4 Torri against Basket Club Russi will have the chance to close the playoff qualification process a month and a half before the end of the regular season.
The opponent to keep an eye on is Villanova, fifth in the standings, defeated 69-64 in the direct clash at Granarolo last Sunday: the Tigers are 10 points behind the Granata, and will observe the rest period this weekend. With a hypothetical +12 and only six games at the end of the first phase of the championship, Despar would secure a place in the top four with a victory, by virtue of the advantage in the direct clash.
But at Pala 4T the bottom of the table Russi, in the midst of the fight for survival, will play all his cards, thanks to the victory against Riccione which has restored confidence in coach Senni’s boys, to at least try to grab a place for the playouts and get out from the direct relegation zone. Ravenna who will also be looking for redemption: in the first leg the match in Russi was historyless, dominated by 4 Torri 44-70.
Despar, on the other hand, does not want to interrupt its run dotted with thirteen successes in a row. The stakes are further enriched with the direct clash in the derby between Granarolo and Budrio: it is the opportunity to definitively close the score for fourth place, and then play for the best possible placing in the final rush of the season.
