Dennis Schröder Gets Chance to Regenerate with National Basketball Team, Says Coach Herbert

Basketball national coach Gordon Herbert also sees an opportunity for Dennis Schröder to regenerate after missing the playoffs.

The world champion captain “now has the chance to take a little break and spend a little time with his family,” the coach told “SID”: “There is probably a certain advantage for players to be finished earlier and a small one to have a break.”

Schröder recently had to prematurely give up his last hope for the championship round with the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA.

Herbert met with the national team captain during the Nets’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers (104:116) on Monday.

“I was in Brooklyn a few days ago and we talked for two or three hours,” Herbert said. They didn’t talk about the summer with the Olympic Games, “but about general things and about not being satisfied and getting better.”

With European Championship bronze in 2022 and World Cup gold in 2023, the team has had “two great years,” Herbert said: “We now have to take another step forward and concentrate on winning another medal. But that’s what I always say , the pressure shouldn’t be greater than the joy of the journey. We have to continue to enjoy what we do, just like we have in the last two years.”
