Daniel Maldini Confirms Contact from Venezuelan Representatives but Focuses on Club Football at Monza

Daniel Maldini, son of the legendary Paolo Maldini, confirms that Venezuelan representatives called him a few months ago, but he has not heard from them recently.

The 22-year-old, son of the legendary Milan and Italian national team defender, is eligible to play for the Vinotinto team because his mother, Adriana Fossa, was born in Venezuela.

Following Italy’s 2-1 victory over Venezuela last March, former Juventus midfielder Tomás Rincón revealed that he had spoken to Paolo Maldini about his son, who is currently on loan at Monza from Milan.

“They had contacted me months ago, but then I didn’t hear anything else,” Daniel Maldini told the Gazzetta.

“Rumors have circulated again because Italy played with Venezuela, but I repeat, I have not heard anyone [últimamente]. However, at this moment, I must find my dimension with Monza; It’s crucial to feel important.”

Maldini had spent the first part of the season on loan at Empoli, but joined Monza on a temporary transfer in the January transfer window.

The attacking midfielder has three goals and one assist in seven Serie A games for Brianzoli this season.

He is still eligible to play for Venezuela, so he has not yet made his debut for Italy’s senior team. Maldini’s last international appearances were at under-20 level with Italy.
