The Joventut Badalona Club announced this Tuesday that Dani Miret, until now assistant to former coach Carles Duran, will be the team’s new first coach for the remainder of the season and two more seasons, after signing until 2026 in a project that the green-and-black club wants be lengthened.
“La ‘Penya’ and the coach from Badalona have reached an agreement until 2026 in which it is a commitment to a long-term project with Miret as coach,” the club announced in a statement.
Dani Miret, born in Badalona in 1985, is the new coach of the ‘Penya’ after signing a contract until June 30, 2026, taking a definitive step in the structure of the Badalona club, where he trained as a coach.
“With this move, Joventut is committed to a long-term project under the direction of a coach who has been trained in the youth system, and who already has an extraordinary career and curriculum both in the training categories of the ‘Penya’ as with the Spanish team,” said the entity.
Miret, who will be presented this Wednesday at a press conference that will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Palau Olímpic in Badalona, along with the president, Juanan Morales, and the sports director, Jordi Martí, has ‘black-green DNA’ since he began his career , in 2007, in the club’s lower categories.
The new coach has been through all the green and black youth basketball teams. He was champion of Spain with Infantil in the 2011/12 season as first coach and was part of Paco Redondo’s staff, with whom he was proclaimed European and Spanish Champion in 2013.
In addition, the coach from Badalona was also twice Champion of Catalonia as first coach with the Green and Black Junior, also obtaining two state silver medals.
Since the 2018-19 season, Miret has been part of Carles Duran’s technical staff in the ACB, also highlighting the promotion to LEB Oro that he achieved with CB Prat as first coach in the 2020/21 season, where he combined both positions.
Dani Miret has also achieved many successes with the Spanish team, among which stands out above all, the recent U-19 World Cup in which he won the gold medal, in addition to three European Championships directing the national team.
