Daichi Kamada Transfer Saga: Will Gladbach Secure the Japanese Star?

Roland Virkus, here on April 7, 2024, is preparing the Gladbach squad for the new season.

For Borussia it would be an important sign in uncertain times!

Until Sunday (April 7, 2024), the situation at Borussia Mönchengladbach was extremely tense: The Foals were threatened with a scenario in which the club was still acutely in the relegation battle – but that seems to be the case thanks to the important 3-1 win in Wolfsburg averted.

Gladbach transfer still an option? Competition from Serie A

For the team and coach Gerardo Seoane (45), it’s about bringing the season to an end as best as possible – and putting the last remaining worries to rest as quickly as possible.

In the background, Roland Virkus (57) and the other Foals squad managers are already working on planning the foals for the coming season.

Does an ex-Bundesliga star continue to play a central role? As the second half of the season progressed, Daichi Kamada (27) came more and more into focus. According to consistent media reports, Kamada is at the top of Borussia’s wish list for the summer.

The Japanese is currently playing in Rome after successful years at Eintracht Frankfurt, but only signed a one-year contract with Lazio last summer.

But the signs had been pointing to farewell for some time now – initially this was also because Maurizio Sarri (65) didn’t rely on the ex-Frankfurter for a long time. Sarri announced his resignation last month – Igor Tudor (45) is now on the sidelines for the Romans.

Recently, Kamada had the opportunity to show himself more often under the Croatian. Among other things, he was in the starting line-up in the derby against Roma (0-1). Now the turnaround in Kamada poker – and a stay beyond the summer?

Daichi Kamada, here on September 2, 2023, is under contract with Lazio until June 30, 2024.

It’s in Kamada’s hands: he has a one-sided contract clause that allows him to extend his working paper at Lazio for another two years.

According to the Italian newspaper “Il Messaggero”, Kamada’s improved situation does not change the fact that they apparently part ways again after just a year. Accordingly, the player site has already informed Tudor about this.

However, that doesn’t mean that Gladbach has an easy time of it: Corriere dello Sport recently reported that two other Serie A clubs are interested in the Lazio playmaker.

Accordingly, Atalanta and the reigning Italian champions Napoli are interested in acquiring Kamada from their rivals from Rome for free in the summer.

Atalanta is currently in sixth place, Napoli is only in seventh place after a chaotic season including a change of coach. However, both clubs have better prospects for the European Cup than Gladbach. The competition is certainly top-class, which doesn’t make the situation any easier for Borussia.
