Connecticut Huskies Win Second Consecutive NCAA Title

It was Connecticut’s second straight NCAA title and sixth in team history.

The last team to win March Madness two years in a row was the University of Florida Gators, who did it in 2006 and 2007.

Tristen Newton was the top scorer for the champions with 20 points, Stephon Castle scored 15 points, and Cam Spencer and Donovan Klingen each had 11 points.

The excellent game of the best player of the last two NCAA seasons, the 2.24-meter center Zach Eady, who scored 37 points, won ten rebounds and blocked three shots, did not save the Purdue University team from the loss. On the other hand, Brayden Smith collected 12 points and eight assists for the “Boilermakers”.

The Huskies became the sixth team in NCAA history to win all six March Madness games by double digits. The total lead in points in those games was +140, surpassing the 1996 record of +129 set by the University of Kentucky.

This was the second final in the history of the Purdue University team, but they did not manage to win the title.
