Colombian goalkeeper Santiago Arcila qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by qualifying for the final of the Olympic Games Continental Qualifier for The Americas, which is being held this week in Medellín.

The gold medal, already with the country’s numerical quota secured, confirmed the Colombian’s great moment.

Arcila obtained the 46th place for the country and the second for Colombian archery, after beating Oscar Ticas from El Salvador in the semifinal, with a score of 6 to 2, in the Men’s Recurve Modality, to advance to the final and obtain one of the two individual quotas offered by this continental competition.

During the third day of competition, Colombia also had representation with Andrés Hernández and Jorge Enríquez, who in the quarterfinals lost to Nicholas D’Amour (Virgin Islands) and Mario Jajarabilla (Argentina).

D’Amour faced Santiago Arcila in the final, so the two qualified for Paris. Already in the definition for gold, the Colombian took first place.

In this way, Colombian Archery already has two numerical quotas, both for men and women, which was added by archer Ana María Rendón.

Colombia will seek the team classification, both in the women’s and men’s branches, in a definition that will take place over the weekend. The women’s team is made up of Ana María Rendón, Maira Sepúlveda and Valentina Acosta, while the men’s team is made up of Santiago Arcila, Jorge Enríquez and Andrés Hernández. There is only a place for the champion of each branch.
