The Colombian women’s national team defeated Guatemala 3-0, in the last match of the FIFA date in April, a match that served to prepare what will be the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The balance of those led by Ángelo Marsiglia was two victories on his tour of the United States.

Wendy Bonilla opened the scoring, Mayra Ramírez scored a double and Catalina Usme scored a goal, all in the second half.

For this match, Marsiglia decided to put a starting roster totally different from the one in the match against Mexico and in the eleven he gave the opportunity to players who had not had the opportunity to perform regularly, with new additions to Natalia Giraldo who recovered her position, Daniela Caracas (was expelled), Kelly Caicedo, Ángela Barón, Gabriela Huertas, María Camila Reyes, Wendy Bonilla, Lady Andrade and Yisela Cuesta.

Although Guatemala caused some problems during the match and the tie persisted throughout the first half, in the second half Marsiglia made some adjustments and they managed to win the match.

The first goal of the game came just after the start of the second half and Wendy Bonilla, one of the newcomers, was the one who opened the scoring at Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, New Jersey.

Likewise, goalkeeper Natalia Giraldo stood out in the match, saving a penalty at a decisive moment, since everything was tied at one goal, so her intervention at that moment was crucial.

Having the result in their hands meant a relief for Colombia, as they began to play more freely and with the entry of several starting players such as Catalina Usme, Manuela Pavi, Daniela Montoya and Mayra Ramírez, the team improved in play.

To seal the victory, the star scorer Mayra Ramírez appeared, who sealed the 2-0 victory after 80 minutes and that was decisive for Colombia to finish the match more calmly, although at the end of the game, Catalina Usme, signed the 3- 0 and in the process scored his 56th goal with the Colombian National Team.

In the end, the balance for the Colombian women’s team is positive, because it tested players on this tour against Mexico and Guatemala that ended with a balance of two victories, so coach Ángelo Marsiglia will begin to draw conclusions regarding the formation of the roster that will be at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
