The victory of Club Brugge against PAOK Salonika increased the Belgian coefficient from 13,200 to 13,600 points. The Blauw & Zwart can allow Belgium to achieve a second consecutive record.
Club Brugge is the only Belgian team still active in the European Cup, and pocketed an important victory this Thursday against PAOK Salonika. A victory which increased the UEFA coefficient of Belgian clubs from 13,200 to 13,600 points, for this 2023-2024 season.
The success of the Gazelles makes us secretly dream of a new record season for Belgium, after that… of last year, which saw the representatives of Jupiler Pro League pocket 14,200 points.
Belgium maintains its 8th position in the UEFA rankings
In total for the last five seasons (the ranking used to define European places), Belgium maintains its eighth position with 48,000, behind Portugal, which also saw its only representative, Benfica, win (against Marseille), and which has 56,316 points. Belgium is almost 10,000 points ahead of Turkey, ninth.
In the (anecdotal) rankings of the last two seasons, Belgium is the fifth best performing championship in Europe, ahead of France, Portugal and the Netherlands. With five seasons like these, the Pro League could have four representatives… in the Champions League!
We are part of the 5 major European championships over the last 2 seasons! 🥳
If we confirmed it over another 3 years, we would not have 2, nor 3, but FOUR teams in the UCL! 🫨 pic.twitter.com/zxzAbcZY0c

Unlikely scenario, obviously, but Belgium’s UEFA coefficient is constantly increasing. Club Bruges’ victory allows us to occupy sixth European place for the season, ahead of Portugal and the Netherlands.
It’s done ! 🥳
Our place will be assured in the (probable) event of Fiorentina’s victory against Plzen next week! pic.twitter.com/k7NJdLs0AL
