City of Paris Mobilizes Volunteers for Olympic Games Welcoming Committee

Mobilized in public spaces, these volunteers will have the main task of welcoming, informing and guiding visitors during the Games period (July 26 – August 11).

Just over 100 days before the Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11), nearly 1,200 volunteers from the City of Paris gathered on Saturday April 13 at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle for a first day of meetings and cohesion .

Mobilized in public spaces, these volunteers will have the main task of welcoming, informing and guiding visitors during the Games period. Some of them will have the mission of welcoming journalists to the “Paris Media Centre” in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.

Gathered with speakers from the City of Paris on the future site of the badminton, para-badminton, rhythmic gymnastics and para-weightlifting events, the volunteers were able to find out a little more about their missions and the organization of the Olympic and Paralympic Games .

“A unique moment”

“Today, the objective for us was to bring them together to give them a first level of information on what will happen this summer,” underlined Julien Combret, in charge of the City’s volunteer program. of Paris on the Games.

In total, the City of Paris will mobilize nearly 5,300 volunteers this summer, in addition to the 45,000 Paris 2024 volunteers who were also able to participate in a day of convention on March 23 at La Défense Arena.

To thank the volunteers, the City of Paris offered them a place to attend an Olympic or Paralympic Games event.

“It’s a unique moment that we are going to experience,” rejoices Fanny Leroy, 46 years old, future volunteer. “For me it’s really a human experience and I wanted to have the opportunity to experience that.”
