Brian Laudrup sees Ajax as an ideal destination for Christian Eriksen, the former footballer said in an interview with Viaplay. According to the Dane, Eriksen would be received as king in Amsterdam.

Eriksen played in Ajax’s main squad between 2010 and 2013. He played 165 times for the Amsterdam team. The midfielder scored 32 times and was a scorer 65 times.

In 2013 he left for Tottenham Hotspur for fourteen million euros. After an adventure at Inter, he settled at Manchester United after a period at Brentford, where he is still under contract.

Eriksen collapsed in the match against Iceland during the 2021 European Championship. The now 32-year-old Dane has heart problems and has since played with a pacemaker. He built up his fitness at Ajax after the European Championship.

Laudrup believes that Eriksen can no longer handle the level and pace of the Premier League and sees a partnership with Jordan Henderson on the horizon for him.

“He knows the city, the language, the club. He would like to play in an easier league, where he can help build a team.”

Ajax is currently going through a very bad season and can use the experience that Eriksen brings. “He will be welcomed like a king when he returns to Amsterdam,” says Laudrup. Eriksen has a contract until mid-2025 and is worth ten million euros according to Transfermarkt.
