Champions League Semi-Finals Prediction: Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern, or Dortmund – Who Will Go All the Way?

No English clubs in the semi-finals of the Champions League, but there is a Spanish one (Real Madrid), a French one (PSG) and two German ones (Bayern and Dortmund). Who goes all the way? Peter Vandenbempt and Ella Van Kerkhoven make a prediction in our podcast Sporza Daily.

“From the very best”

Peter Vandenbempt enjoyed the goal celebration in the quarter-finals. He commented on the matches on site for Pickx Sports.

“I saw the double matches Real Madrid – Manchester City and PSG – Barcelona,” Vandenbempt opens.

“I thought the first legs in particular were absolute highlights, some of the very best I have seen in the twelve years that I have been following the Champions League. The returns did not reach the same level, but we were spoiled with top spectacle.”

“I thought Real against City was the best match,” Vandenbempt continues. “Everything that top football has to offer was included: the decor, the ambiance and the level that both teams reached.”

“We got plot twists, beautiful goals, a bit of luck and some drama. That match gets a 9.5 from me.”

Vandenbempt finds the abolition of the away goals rule a relief. “It makes teams play more uninhibited. Home teams dare to attack more.”

Real Madrid has surprised Ella Van Kerkhoven. “I had said beforehand that Manchester City would win the Champions League, but now they are out. After a final avant la lettre,” says the Red Flame.

Real survived against City as only Real can: with a low block and a defensive attitude.

Van Kerkhoven: “That is the football they bring. It works because they have players with individual class, like Bellingham. Real’s speed is a big plus.”

Real – PSG? Of Bayern – PSG?

In the semi-finals, Real plays against Bayern and PSG against Dortmund. Who will play the final at Wembley on June 1?

“PSG is in the best position,” says Peter Vandenbempt. “And it would be fantastic if Kylian Mbappé took on Real Madrid in the final. That would be an extra nice pimento.”

PSG vs Real? Ella Van Kerkhoven has doubts: “They have the experience of recent years, but don’t forget the determination of the German teams.”

“Bayern has as much chance as Real of advancing,” Vandenbempt nods. “With a slight advantage for Real, because it plays the second leg in Madrid.”

Appointment in 2 weeks for the first legs of the semi-finals.
