Champions League: FC Bayern fights for a draw at Arsenal FC

FC Arsenal – FC Bayern 2:2 (1:2)

Bayern Munich has developed a decent starting position in the fight for a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The German record champions achieved a 2-2 (2-1) draw in the quarter-final first leg at Arsenal FC, but missed a lead at half-time.

Serge Gnabry (18th) and Harry Kane scored the goals for coach Thomas Tuchel’s team with a penalty kick after an outstanding solo by Leroy Sane (32nd). The team had to do without their fans in London who had been banned by UEFA. Bukayo Saka (12th) gave Arsenal the lead, Leandro Trossard (76th) equalized. The second leg will take place on April 17th in Munich.

Real Madrid – Manchester City 3:3 (2:1)

The game between defending champions Manchester City and record winners Real Madrid also ended in a draw. At the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, the guests from the Premier League missed out on victory after taking the lead twice on Tuesday evening; in the end the score was 3:3 (1:2).

Manchester took the lead in the second minute through Bernardo Silva. But it only lasted ten minutes. With a double blow in the 12th and 14th minutes with an own goal from Rúben Dias and a goal from Rodrygo, Madrid was now ahead in the duel between highly decorated star coaches Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) and Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid). After the break, the guests hit back and scored two goals again within a short space of time.

First Phil Foden equalized (66th), before former RB Leipzig professional Joskos Gvardiol (71st) scored to make it 3-2 for Manchester. Federico Valverde then equalized for Real with a dream goal after Germany’s national team returnee Toni Kroos was substituted for Luka Modrić.
