He injured his ankle during Dortmund’s victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach ten days ago in the Bundesliga (2-1). Sébastien Haller’s convalescence, estimated at three weeks, should deprive him of the semi-finals of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. The first leg is scheduled for May 1 in Germany, the return on the 7th at the Parc des Princes.

The 29-year-old Ivorian striker had already been suffering from an ankle injury since December 2023. He still took part in the African Cup of Nations, which he won with the Elephants last February. During this, he did not play the first matches of the competition.

A lingering injury

The former Ajax Amsterdam player finally returned to competition, before relapsing against Mönchengladbach on April 13. “Seb has injured his ankle again,” announced his coach, Edin Terzic. He will now have a week of rest before a definitive diagnosis is made. But it definitely won’t be available to us in the next two to three weeks. »

The Ivorian therefore missed the quarter-final second leg of the Champions League against Atlético de Madrid. A meeting during which the Germans overthrew the Spaniards to snatch a place in the last four (4-2). In the first leg, the Colchoneros won at home (2-1). Sébastien Haller also scored Dortmund’s goal that day.
