On a Sunday in the spring of 1924, a few young men met at the Chancellor Forsthof with the aim of doing sports together in the future. On this day they founded the Kastl gymnastics club. The club now has ten divisions including football, tennis, table tennis, judo, gymnastics, mountain biking, Zumba and children’s gymnastics and has been called TuS Kastl 1924 since 1956.

100 years later, this was the occasion for the festive evening in the TuS Kastl sports center. In his welcoming speech, chairman Norbert Bleisteiner gave a look back at world events during the founding year. The representatives of the associations then presented certificates and gifts. Barbara Hernes from BLSV emphasized in her speech that the TuS, as a lively club, has played a key role for 100 years and has carried out successful club work.

BFV district chairman Thomas Graml said that although football has changed socially, its importance has remained the same. In team sports you live fair play, learn responsibility and strength. Volker Richter from the Gymnastics Association also brought congratulations. Elisabeth Müller created a picture presentation. Together with second board member, Gert Steuerl, she gave a look back at 100 years of TuS history. The printed chronicle was presented as a gift to those present.

Norbert Bleisteiner then interviewed some of the guests. Chancellor Mayor Stefan Braun reported on questions about his own playing time at DJK Utzenhofen and the derby games against TuS. Thanks to the new TuS/DJK syndicate, there are no longer any derbies, but he was extremely pleased that both clubs are now following a common path. The next interview partners were brewer Anton Bruckmüller and TuS head host Waldemar Draxler, who also gave episodes.

During the coach interview, the current TuS coach Michael Hufnagel said that from 2007 onwards, very successful times began in senior football with the then coach Michael Luber. With him as coach, modern football was played and the team was promoted from the A class to the district league within three years. Luber was also the trigger for the engagement of the other successful trainers, Krauß, Mayer, Wendl and Schwarzfischer.

In September 2023 there were first concrete ideas for a gaming community in the senior sector between Kastl and Utzenhofen. Alexander Baumer, Johannes Kölbl and Daniel Riehl led the discussions for TuS. The implementation was received positively by those around the two clubs. According to Alexander Baumer, they quickly agreed on the crucial points, especially that longer-term cooperation was desired for the senior teams. The board of DJK Utzenhofen, Albert Wittmann, confirmed this and said that there were no problems during the negotiations and that the crucial points could be clarified quickly. Those responsible at TuS and DJK agree that the SG is the right path and was implemented at the right time.

Daniel Riehl presented his idea for choosing a TuS century eleven. Names for a team must be selected from all players who have ever played football for TuS Kastl. The participation forms are available in the sports center and can be filled out by mid-June. Those selected will be presented at the Lauterach Cup tournament. There are prizes for participants.

TuS Kastl is well on the way to becoming a climate-neutral club. Through the gradual construction measures carried out on the sports center, the operation of a micro local heating network with a neighbor on Mennersberg since 2014, the replacement of the windows and the recently installed photovoltaic system, CO2 emissions have been reduced from 25 to currently 4 tons. Further optimization measures are planned.

According to Norbert Bleisteiner, the TuS works well with the other organizations at Markt Kastl and the police college and offers the sports center and the pitches for use. These include the school’s sports festivals, event options for clubs and environmental events in collaboration with the Hirschwald Nature Park or the Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences.
