Caroline Garcia Dominates in Rouen Tournament, Advances to Quarterfinals

Caroline Garcia was in a hurry. This Thursday, the Frenchwoman sharply beat the Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (6-1, 6-0) during the round of 16 of the Rouen tournament.

Seeded number 2 in the tournament, Garcia will face Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse on Friday in the quarter, modest 162nd in the world but defeating Clara Burel (6-0, 2-6, 6-3). The number one seed, Russian Anastasia Pavluchyenkova (22nd), was knocked out by Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus (53rd) 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 earlier.
