Carolina Marín Dominates European Badminton Championship Quarterfinals with Ease

The Spanish Carolina Marín qualified without problems this Friday for the semifinals of the European Badminton Championship that is being held in the German town of Saarbrücken by beating the French Leonice Huet by 21-18 and 21-15.

The six-time continental champion continues to confirm that she is the rival to beat in this event, where until now she has walked with a firm step, without giving up any game so far in any of her three matches, already chaining 13 consecutive victories after her titles at the All England and at the Swiss Open.

The player from Huelva encountered resistance from her rival, especially in the first game where Huet came out focused and looking to try to put up a ‘battle’. After having a small dominance, however, the Andalusian accelerated and with a run of 6-0 she went on to clearly dominate (11-7).

The Frenchwoman did not collapse and managed to replicate both this first escape attempt by Marín (13-12) and a second, so things reached the decisive stretch (18-17), but there the Spanish showed her greatest experience and he ended up taking over the game.

In the second, the current world runner-up tried to break the match early and although she reached an optimal 10-5, she received a new response from Huet, who equalized things (10-10). However, Marín focused again, opened another gap and no longer had any problems sealing her pass to the semifinals where she will face the Danish Julie Dawall Jakobsen, eighth seed.
