Carlos Alcaraz Withdraws from ATP Barcelona Tournament Due to Injury: Double Title Holder Forced to Sit Out

(Barcelona) The Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, world No.3, has withdrawn from the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona which begins next week and of which he is double title holder, due to a persistent injury to his right arm.

Published yesterday at 8:34 a.m.

Alcaraz had already had to withdraw from the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo this week, due to “compression of the median nerve in his right arm”. The Spaniard then had to enter the second round and waited until the last moment before finally giving up.

This time again, “even if he tried until the last moment, he will not participate” in the tournament, the organizers indicated in a press release, adding that the double Grand Slam winner did not have “good feelings” during from his training on Sunday.

This is a new blow for Alcaraz, not yet able to return to competition, unlike his compatriot Rafael Nadal who should return to the clay court of Barcelona for his first match in more than three months.

“We will miss you, champion,” the organizers said in an Instagram, mentioning the main person involved.
