Now the men’s doubles pair Labar/Corvée are behind the Popovs in the rankings, with 29 points behind. But according to our information, a calculation error by the International Federation is the cause of this modification. Indeed, almost a year ago, Lucas Corvée and Ronan Labar were lined up at the Sudirman Cup in China, the mixed team world championships. At the end of the competition, the French pair receives 4,300 points. However, the calculation system would have been faulty. 400 points too many were given to Labar/Corvée. An error with serious consequences, since the pair, until then qualified for Paris 2024, finally found themselves behind the Popov Brothers.

Contacted by RMC Sport, the French Badminton Federation does not understand what happened, explains Jérôme Careil, the National Technical Director: “A priori it should be a competition that was poorly calculated. The FFBaD immediately contacted the International Federation: “They responded to us saying that they needed more time, that they were going to come back to us a little later. For the moment we are waiting for a confirmation of what led to the number of points for Ronan and Lucas not being good.
