BVB: Terzic criticizes attitude and mistakes
Head coach Terzic agreed with his captain: “We just weren’t good enough in the first 30 minutes. If you make so many mistakes at this level, it’s usually over.” He also saw the problems as they occurred. “We didn’t want to talk about tactical things at half-time when we were so afraid on the ball, didn’t want to show ourselves and were brave in one-on-one situations,” he gave an insight into his half-time speech.
The coach didn’t want to accept the excuse of inexperience. “We explicitly pointed out what was going to happen here and what they designed their game for: waiting for mistakes. We gave them too many mistakes,” explained Terzic, slightly annoyed.
But Terzic was also pleased with BVB’s positive reaction after the break. “We simply didn’t accept that and fought our way back into the game. In the second half you could clearly see what we were capable of. Now it’s about taking the positives with us. We’re looking forward to next Tuesday.” Can is also positive about the second leg: “We believe in ourselves! We can do it!”
