(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 13 – Strong controversy in Germany due to VAR. During the match between Borussia Moenchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund, the referee awarded a penalty to Dortmund for a foul on striker Adeyemi when the score was at 2 -1 for Dortmund.

The penalty was converted by Sabitzer who made it 3-1 and his personal hat-trick. The two teams were reaching the midfield when the same referee asked the players to wait and approached the VAR screen. The penalty, in fact, was kicked while the foul was being reviewed by the VAR room which, in turn, he overturned the decision and therefore canceled the penalty and goal.
